A designer stubble, rosy lips, chest hair peeping through the shirt (that's a huge turn on), mild deodorant, radiant smile, shaved pits and genitals and a proper etiquette to top it all. Someone like this would make me weak in he knees

@intro_vert - I second that too., the chest hair peeping through a shirt is huge turn on.. In terms of jewellery I love a man with a well built arms with a "kada" tightening his wrist. And bracelets .. Love it in silver or platinum with not so fussy designs more than gold..

Neatly dressed, no body odour, presenting himself in a polite and good manner. More importantly a freshness in his looks and communication. Rest of all is just an add-on

Missed it... NAILS - well clipped and neat. The first thing i look at a person is to reach out for his hand and feet nails. I just hate those unclean and filthy nails.

My first attraction towards anyone is the clean teeth. And second is the nails.

When comes to grooming, outfit that fits and suits him, well maintained hair, either if he is balding or with lot of hair it should not be messy and smelling.

Externally, he must look neat, odourless, a bit stylish with unique & refined choices of dress and accessories.
For me, a proper grooming is complete only if these inner aspects are also present in that person: gentle & warm demeanour, good communication skill, his whole being should exhude certain goodness, which is reflected in his eyes & smile.
Such a person will be the centre of attraction where ever he goes; he would make the heads turn back to have a second look at him.

Fine., since I started this topic I really wanted to know if how many have similar expectations for a well groomed man.

There goes my comprehensive list also a few would be redundant since most of you mentioned that as well

External appearance

* Definitely a well dressed man. No matter his attire (be it dhoti or formals or casual) I like men who dress up in a way which suits them best.
* Next that facial hair, be it beard or mustache. A neatly trimmed mustache or a stylish beard is my kind of guy.
* That manicured finger nails. Yes. Many said nails. I really like to see a guy's neat fingers when he extends his hand for a greeting. (It's an his personal hygiene too. Those guys with black sickles like dirt in their fingers make me puke. There are days I try to avoid to shake hands with such guys in my straight life too)
* Guys with that unibrow or neatly trimmed eyebrows. A thick eyebrow is definitely manly.
* The scent of a man. Sure it does work magic. The aura of a man. With no body odour.

Personality traits
* The eyes and smile - best accessory of any man. A like guys who look straight with eye contact and a smile that's genuine and not fake. A handsome smile could be an icing on the cake
* A beautiful mind ( a mind which values fellow humans, passion, compassion, courteous and a loving heart which is reciprocal)

--guess I got too touchy with last line ;) lol

@Valentine - yes very true; eyes & smile veritably reflect the soul of a person. I like people with sharp & benevolent eyes with a child like smile.

For me the most attractive feature of a man is in cranium not underwear!!!LOL. I get instantly attracted to intelligent knowledgeable guys with sound knowledge in whatever field it may be. Infact I get attracted even to women who are intelligent and knowledgeable. But when it is coupled to arrogance then it is a big turn off far me. I like guys who are quite soft natured with whom i can have a meaningful talk. Guys who would first listen, who would think before they speak, who are sensible and serious (definitely not the funny types). Well my desire to meet my dream man will be a mirage- and i know that.

My profession demands me to be well turned up most of the time so here is a list that I believe in -
1) A clean hair cut / clean shaven / well maintained facial hair - trimmed beard/ mush. No hair from the ear/ nose peeping out :/
2) Attire - Well stitched and well tailored outfit and colour coordinated. Shoes and belt matching colour. Formal shirts with cuff links / if casuals matched well makes a difference.
3) Science indicates that shoes is the first thing people notice about someone. Polished and well maintained shoes tell a lot.
4) A good perfume - Nothing jarring but something that’s pleasant and summery for a climate like chennai is always a plus.My all time fav is Aqua Di Gio by Armani, Element by Hugo Boss and 360 by Perry Ellis. They work wonders in Chennai and last all day.
5) Teeth with no paan stains / Tattoos preferably subtle / garish male jewellery best avoided but yeah a kada is ok , a stud looks sexy only if you have the facial structure to carry it off. Any other personal piercings on public display is best avoided.
6) The only thing that can beat all of the above hands down is a nice warm sunshine smile πŸ˜ƒ!! Nothing can beat that.

Some of you have commented on physical appearance, yes clothes do look good on people with a good physique but even they need to match it with the colour of the skin like dark people must avoid fluorescent jazzy colours, it’s a common sight to watch people with a pot belly in a shirt where the buttons are waiting to fall apart and you can see the inner vest. T shirts have to be the right size I see most often it’s too loose or too tight. And then there are these men who love to scratch right there in the public 😬 eeks !

Another thing people do not realise is deodorants are not perfumes. Maybe it’s sold like that here in India but it’s mainly meant for underarms. A good roll on is a lot more effective than the sprays that are available. Overspraying of deodorant is bad manners you are not a room freshener.

Am so so sorry but this topic got me started πŸ™ apologies if I offended anyone

It's a great topic to share our views. As few mentioned, we all will like to meet people after analysing their inner beauty. But we all here are attracted towards man, we will not think of their inner beauty at the instant when we have a look at some guy.

I agree inner beauty and some nature are important(if we like to continue some kind of friendship or relationship). The same time, we all should agree,we will enjoy guys just on their physical appearance before analysing their inner beauty(it happens most times). There is only one reason for this, we are just enjoying not going to have bed with all whom we enjoy just on seeing their physical beauty

Let me come to the point :

Very first, I look at the face.Colour is not a matter.I am very much attracted to guys who have graceful face cuts (in Tamil people used to say as " kalai " or " muga latchanam")

Then cleanly teeth in same order and size

I love to have a look at men, in formal attires(trimmed beard,Mush can either be trimmed or not depends) and in dhoties or village guy (definitely thick mush, beard can either be shaved or not depends)

Then hairs peeping out of first and second unbuttoned area of shirt

I love men who wears white coloured vests

Hairs in the wrist...uff...I can't control, when I see men who rolls up their cuffs in full and shirt and making visible their hairy wrist wearing metal strap watches (than leather strap)...Lol

Then nails as valentine84 mentioned

In some cases, I like tummy (it depends if they have cubby face)

Bracelets and very thin gold or silver chain

Good fragrance while we cross them

I would like to add an additional point, I like to sight at men who have sweat drops in their fore heads like little pearls (not much )

We all have different kind of attractions and it is difficult to find everything in a single men for sure πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Pretty much every one covered. Highlighting mine as well
1. Well groomed hair
2. Light hair in chest
3. Dressed up neatly based on his body type
4. Dimple while smile
5. Clean teeth (visible when smile)
6. Slight curve in eye brows (this will be good for men always)
7. No explicit visible tummy.. every body have tummy but it should not be much
8. Watch in right hand
9. Stud in left ear
10. Face structure (curved one). Colour doesn't matter

Damn I read these posts so late! Being half way across the globe has its perils :P
Most people have mentioned what I find daper. Guys in formals n tux are sexier than when they are not in one. Traditional attire gives a damn attractive vibe.
Deodorants is not equal to perfumes. Both have different functions.
I would prefer trimmed pits and pubes. Somewhat makes a bit macho and there is a reason why nature has given hair through evolution!
Smile, dimples, and colored eyes !

At the same time if trash is what you hear from someone having all the aforementioned stuff it s a big turn down and puts me off

is there any meaning of wearing ear studs?

some people only wear on left ears.
some wear on both.
some wear only on right?

and what kind of people usually wear studs? can we infer any information about the guys based on how they wear studs?

@newbieforum. Piercing in the ears have a meaning. If on right it indicates gay.. If left just a fashion statement.. If both may be religious ..

@valentine84 is the ear piercing code valid in India? Many guys from different regions have different ways of piercing their ears. I've read the piercing code was used back in the 70s to give a subtle hint about ones sexuality. These codes must have been diluted by now in this age of social media and easy access. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Valentine84

@introvert - I guess the code still exist. I have a piercing too on my left but wear a barely visible diamond stud. When my straight friend (girl) who was settled in the west met me after a long time and on seeing my piercing commented "Thank god you are wearing a small stud. My husband said gay men wear funky earrings." I just brushed off the topic saying "I am neither one and also I have mine on the left".. It was a bit embarrassing for me that day when my fiend said that,..

Coming back to the topic - subtle jewellery on men is fine and garish ones are a turn off for me

Good someone opened this up. There is always a confusion between over dressing and being well groomed.

In my opinion, well groomed is smelling good, clean teeth, trimmed hair all over the body. Get your chest hair, armpit hair and pubic hair neatly trimmed regularly. Get rid of hair on ears, nose tip, knuckles, nape of your neck, shoulders, back, bum. Pluck the hair strands that stick out of your eyebrows and nose. keep your tummy under control. Dont wait till your get a pot belly and then start exercising. Then the reduction becomes too difficult. If you are going too bald, then keep the the hair length very very short or shave it off completely. This has got nothing to do with your sexuality. This holds good for every man.

Do you agree?

nice topic guys! thanks valentine for this post.
Yes many of us are unaware of grooming tips and grooming styles. For many grooming is all about expensive maintenance. But grooming can be so simple and practical day to day stuff.
Grooming doesnt just mean the physical appearance alone, it should be the lifestyle and behaviour in itself.
I like to spend time and right amount money on grooming according to me i like to pamper myself with best grooming sessions periodically right from attending my hairdresser and weekly shaving appointments, facial once in every two months, home care everyday and night for face, body and hair. due to hectic work out schedules, lifestyle i prefer a good moisturising face wash, cleanser and toner every night, exfoliating scrub once a week for both face and body. if sporting a beard, moisturiser and beard serum for non itchy skin. Love to get pampered with great relaxing massages and pedicures.
As for dressing need to wear something u feel most comforable in and dress right to the occasion. your wardroe doesnt always have to be an expensive one. Selecting your dresses properly according to colors that complement your physicque adds great value. Grooming doesnt have to be an asset only for the rich or men with best optimal physique. Every one is entitled to maintain regualr grooming for their bodies, never be ashamed of your bodies thin or fat, short or tall everyone has to maintain personal hygeine and try to look best for yourself first and then for others.

Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder... So the person should be neat and clean.

@Gayspark - Thanks for your grooming tips. I don't have an elaborate routine but I do something to make myself presentable.

Lips - moisturise your lips well. I always carry a neutral colour lip balm. Chapped lips are a huge turn off for me. Nivea men lip balm is pretty good. Doesn't give a shimmer like feel which many lip balms does.

Hand and feet - use a good moisturiser. I use a Vaseline body lotion (mostly the Aleovera one). Mostly on the sun exposed areas like arms and legs ( if I wear shorts)

Face - I am not much into any facials since my skin is extremely reactive. The only time I had a facial was for my marriage. But I do get a face clean up which involves a steam clean up of the white heads and black heads once in 3 months.

Above all tips I would say eat right and sleep tight. Watch what you eat and take enough rest.

Outside: Clean shaven or trimmed facial hair. Nice smell but not strong perfumes.
Inside: Clean shaven *** & balls. Soapy or light perfume.
