It will take a lot more than having online discussions about it.

from what i understand Same-*** marriages are not legally recognised in India nor are same-*** couples offered limited rights such as a civil union or a domestic partnership.
Not sure if any politician would even comment on such sensitive issue.
Some times its better to be silent

Correct me if I'm wrong..

Same *** marriage are not legally recognized but also not illegal in India.

In India, the only law of Section 377 was implied which doesn't define anything about same *** marriage and has been scrapped by Supreme Court after review.

Soon, they will legalize gay marriages as well. In 2011, a Haryana court granted legal recognition to a same-*** marriage involving two women.

@daniel100
It’s been several years since the 377 judgement came out yet same *** couples only have sexual autonomy. They have no legal recognition in most cases and basis judicial precedents, does not seem like there is much that might change. Besides all these judgments that might’ve been progressive have a judge’s bias in them, meaning that each judge might have a different outlook leading to a different decision.

Plus, as optimistic as you’d like to be, same *** marriages aren’t something that you can really look forward to in the near future. Delhi HC in late 2020 shut down (I guess 3) petitions for same *** marriage citing the social stigma around it and stating covid needed more attention. (Basically log kya kahenge) also what was more pressing during covid than the need for people to get married and get maintenance or protection from intimate partner violence?

It’s a lot to be thought about. And yes, you’re right that same *** marriages aren’t illegal, however it’s a party more than anything else in the eyes of the law. You get no rights or redressals.
