Two reasons;
1. It's weekday. I can't take leave in notice period.
2. I'm abstaining for Sabari Malai fasting.

@Gayspark, I'll let you know next year. Let's plan

Somebody just told me about this festival , I thought it was a religious event never knew it attracts gay crowd 🙏😀.
This means even the God thinks “Being Gay is Ok” it’s just the rest of the country that has to accept this.

Read a lot in PR and a few gay blogs about this festival. Ofcourse watching the shirtless musicians of "Chenda melam" are a feast to watch.

Read something about a large ground where a huge gathering of gays meet in the evening. I never dared to try this Pooram festival since I already regretted a lot being to Kutrallam gay meet.

In my view, cruising is fine, but hooking up with so many random men in a continuous rage for lust seems more animal like.

I have read about it in a blog but never had such experience. I second valentine84's last sentence of his comment.

This is the first time I am hearing about this meet. OMG!!! Just I surfed with the topic. So many experiences shared in blog.Though I am not interested to have public fun, I always enjoy seeing men as a treat to my eyes...Lol.At least once in my life time, I would like to visit this place

Recently, I have also heard about one such place in tamilnadu.I don't know how far it is true.(Narthamalai - Trichy to pudukkotai), It's a hill temple of lord muruga. There also such meetings will happen yearly once in Tamil month of Panguni especially on last day of festival. If anyone gone there or knows about the place kindly share your experiences too

This is the first time m hearing about this festival. Love to attend if get the right company as I don't know Tamil. Also what is the duration of the festival and how many times it is celebrated in a year and where it is celebrated?

This is related to which god?

The festival spans two days!
The action takes place after the festival in a football ground. Or in the hotels. But these days there is a lot of gay bashing by the locals and the police.
Not sure how safe it is and you end up running the risk of contracting STIs. So mostly is confined to hotels!

Well we’ll welll.... please clear the air. Time for some dose of reality. The festival is between two temples who display their flags and arrange elephants in orderly manner. The competition is between two temples. In Kerala even a street side temple insists guys wearing a dhoti and going in without the shirt and some how gays have evolved this mass gathering of men in topless and dhotis folded up their knees. I have couple of connections and no one says this is a gay orgy. This is purely cultural festival and midnight or early morning is the crackers or night life show, again the time is being misused by the desperate gay crowd. This is strictly cultural and no gay orgy. Be prepared for surprises if there’s too much moral policing and officers on duty in plain clothes.

I am not good in narrating but hope will give some info. More detail/if you don't understand you can ask me

- As Guru said it is temple function but it will happen in ground inside temple (outside praharam) and outside the temple only. So you can wear anything shorts, t-shirt and even chappal too.

- Stadium was the main attraction but from last 2 years they build stadium walls and it is closed now. But still outisde of stadium people cruise but in some timing police comes and vacates the crowd. On the other hand crowd will form again. So the stadium is not like previously.

- But any few other public place the things happens but not to full extent. Also in public place you can easily pick guys.
- In the hotels gay groups and alone gays are occupied who came form cities like chennai, blore. In the grndr u will see so many contacts near by saying @hotelname. As all know the gay things is unavoidable I have not seen lodge management questioning anybody even if N number of guys are keep coming.

- The guys from near by towns/villages comes here and start cursing publicly so you can pick good guys if you have place, confident in making eye contacting/approaching. Of course age and luks also plays role.

- You can also find local guys in grndr,as this is a lenghty festival - in between they chat thru grndr and come to hotel for fun, taking bath and relaxing.

- One part of festival which happens in after noon, there is a darker place and completely all are having fun ( hugging, smooch, BJ and *** too) in that place. May be in coming years they may light up that area :-(

- As it is fully crowded it depends on the go u can touch N number ***.

sorry i did not understand. this is the first time i hear of Trissur pooram. but based on google it seems to be a religious function. why so many men come to this event for G purpose? is there any unwritten custom or tradition for this festival? would love to hear more about it.

I have been there last year and that was my first time. As like everyone, the stuffs I read about it on internet rushed my adrelin. I made few guys from PR and joined a WhatsApp group. Once I went, observed the gathering is only for lust. As said by few, this is festival between temples. So there are neutral crowd as well. I stayed for two days, pity alone. The PR and Grindr apps were overflowing with few familiar faces and new faces. But as usual, cheaters and fake guys. Most of the guys are coming there as group, so they stick together always. Eventually hooking up if get guys and place. If you are looking hot, trust me, you will treated as like god in the crowd. The main occasions are umbrealla change and fireworks. I really enjoyed both. First day, I didn't hookup with anyone. Jus enjoyed the festival and had good rest. That hockey ground (some says football ground) is actually located a little distance from temple. Mostly there were local guys. Whence I reached, there were two mufty cops, beating a group of local guys. It seems, cops knows what the place is for. Also it was total dark. I dared to go. So I left. Next day, I heared few good and bad stories. Accidentally found a guy. We had fun and later visited the shops around temple. Good that, we are still in contact. Apart from fun, I really loved that all the scenes of temple. The third day morning, city had already started to move into normal life and also guys. Lodges became empty. Few Chennai and Bangalore group guys, went to guruvayur the other day. So overall, a nice place to take a break. But still valuables and diseases are own risk, if many hookups.

I just returned form a trip t o Thrissur and then an extended holiday in cochin and kumarakom. I went there with my partner to witness the pooram last year.
The festival is unlike any other you would see in India or outside. The sheer intensity and vibe in the place is fantastic at least for me. It is a 2 day festival generally held in april or may depending on the calendar. All the temples around in thrissur participate and have their mini poorams but the major one is held on the Swaraj grounds in the city centre and is between two major temples. Each decorate a set of 15 elephants and have a face off competetion in terms of the colour and design of umbrellas which they keep changing every 2 minutes to the sound of music. It lasts from 5.30 to nearly 7 pm. This umbrella exchange happens on the ground in front of the temple. The crowd would be in lakhs. People from all over come to witness it.
Coming to the gay action, there is rampant frottage and touching in the crowds. It generally happens in groups who kind of cover each other and provide some privacy. I personally witnessed even oral *** happening along the walls. There are also makeshift toilets made where there is action. And of course there is the infamous stadium which is about 500 m from the grounds where hordes of guys cruise. The police are present there and this year did not allow entry into the stadium but a lot of guys were huddled in dark corners around the stadium. I was with my partner and we just walked by and did not participate. We were not comfortable.
There is a also a lot of hook ups that happen prior to the festival and guys fix appointments with visitors in their hotels. There are a lot of orgies also I heard.
There is also the traditional music played by the temples by trained musicians on traditional drums and trumpets and cymballs etc. This happen in one temple about 200 m from the grounds in the afternoon. During these activities also a lot of crowd gathers and action happens iabandoned building where people enter on the pretext of getting a better view of the program. The second music program happens in the main temple on the grounds and there would be groups gathered to have action. There is some action happening at all times in the 2 days of the festival both religious activities and the "not-so-religious actions".

@tonedbloke - You explained the journey very well. It does look like an interesting function to attend. I also think the mallu guys look very nice in the traditional attire. Based on your write up am really keen to attend it next year hopefully. I also wonder how did this function turn from being a religious festival to a gay paradise. I mean what really attracted the gay crowd to this event. There has to be some reasoning or is it just divine intervention 😀. Are there any other functions like this in South India?

Hi guys I love to share my thrissur experience...
Been first time in 2019 April with my friend. We both bottoms and new were not knowing to book near by temple so booked almost 6km far from temple where nobody came to visit us ha ha ha.

Poorma day Monday we went Evening to temple and roam, evening we were not knowing where to find cruising point.. one bad thing is network won't work around Temple and we would not able to find anyone and also through grinder.. later we met local guy there around 8.30 and he took near stadium inside small road near loo ... Wow crowd many cars inside happening and people roaming an police were too ... So no open ***.. we happy to see that and went back to room with local guy n enjoyed 2 session. Next day noon we met two local guys in room n enjoyed and went to same stadium as thinking most of them would left as it's Tuesday... To surprise still 60gys there and met one mallu guy... He took me tho his room and there 8 more mallus all cared me like a baby teddy. Had party and fun with all 9 guys.... Awesome experience..
