I think people in India are migrating to countries like Australia, UK, Canada to get married. Otherwise there is no seriousness here due to laws. But it will happen and that will be good for our community. It will also help LGBT becoming over promiscuous. And also protect partners from getting exploited. But it will not be as easy as hetro marriage.

Saw this post and thought I will share my experience! I got married ti the love of my life this Pride month on June 23rd, 2021 in Central Park NY. I moved here for my masters and got it from NYU. Met him during the pandemic and moved right in. We both work in technology so get each others crazy work schedules and have totally different cultural backgrounds me being Indian and him being American (in that too from Michigan).
As a matter of fact India does not recognize our marriage and I am still and will be single as per Indian authorities. We are planning to visit my parents next year once the pandemic slows down in Mumbai, so fingers crossed

@Vihit - Congratulations bud!! Wish you and your husband blissful married life. Well, legally Indian authorities may not recognize your marriage but as your friend here, we are happy for both of you.

I suggest that you and your husband (not sure if he is Indian national, but if he is ) talk to good Indian tax lawyer/account and make trust and make each of you beneficiaries.

Many Indian gay couples travel overseas to get married and upon returning they form a trust/company and keep a living will, so assets and rights for each partner are protected.
Even if they do not get marriage certificate, with making a trust they can give each other the necessary rights that are protected under the law. You can make your partner beneficiary of your life insurance, investments, saving, power to make medical decisions. In case of separation, division of assets and so on.
